Aries Full Moon: Endings or Beginnings?

Moon and stars

The Full Moon in Aries embodies pure fire—it’s the flame we gather around with loved ones, or the spark that starts wildfires. It’s either an exciting beginning or a definitive ending. Which path you’ll take depends on your unique planetary placements—whether this fire-bearing Moon creates tension with oppositions or squares, or opens up new possibilities with sextiles or trines. For instance, I see Taurus and Virgo Suns and Risings experiencing closure, from saying goodbye to loved ones to ending major life chapters. On the other hand, Capricorn and Aquarius Suns and Risings are gearing up for bold new beginnings. But can there be a beginning without an ending? And is any ending ever truly final, without opening to something new?

Juliana, the protagonist of my novel-in-progress, explains that storytelling always begins in the act of ending. Some endings feel like homes burned to the ground, and it’s hard to envision anything rising from the ashes. Yet even among ruins, a spark of a new beginning exists—whether in a thought, feeling, or the idea that something worth fighting for is taking shape.

Speaking of fighting, the Aries Full Moon is the archetype of the hero. Mars, ruler of this Moon, is currently in Cancer, forming a tense square to the Moon. This square represents conflict and resolution, particularly between personal desires and family dynamics. Mars in Cancer stirs up fiery issues related to home and family, especially involving mothers or older female figures.

Back to the pillars of storytelling: A story without conflict is a heroless tale. Conflict shapes both heroes and heroines into existence. Whether the conflict is internal or as grand as a war, its scope doesn’t determine its importance.

There is always conflict within us. Today, take a moment to identify yours and consider what resolution might look like. Do you feel an ending taking place in your life? Where is the fire burning? Are you ready to let go, or are you still holding onto the ashes?

Another layer to this already intense lunation is Pluto’s final exit from Capricorn. Over the next month, it’s time to let go of outdated, toxic patterns—thoughts, behaviors, jobs, relationships, or anything that no longer aligns with your purpose. Today could be your first step toward the upcoming change. The next key moment will be on November 3, when Mars opposes Pluto, followed by Pluto’s final entry into Aquarius on November 19. Prepare for a month of transformation, and seek the support you need for the bombastic changes ahead.

Taurus and Taurus Rising: Embrace your own ideas instead of following someone else’s path. What’s been brewing inside you? Can you open the lid?

Gemini and Gemini Rising: Friendships evolve over time, just like you. Let go of old dynamics and expectations. It’s okay if your interests have changed—meet your old friends with fresh eyes or open your heart to new connections.

Cancer and Cancer Rising: You can’t always control family or community dynamics. Let go of the need to manage everything, and trust the people you love. You’ll feel a renewed sense of purpose when you release control.

Leo and Leo Rising: To embrace new adventures, you must release the fear of disappointment. Who are you trying to prove yourself to?

Scorpio and Scorpio Rising: Welcome back, Scorpio! It’s your season to shine, and Mars is lighting your inner fire. Use your strength to warm the world as we enter the darker months.

Sagittarius and Sagittarius Rising: Your creativity is on fire. New ideas are taking shape, but let go of the need for perfection. Be brave enough to start something new, even if it’s messy. (And by the way, today’s a peak fertility day for you!)

Capricorn and Capricorn Rising: You’ve made it, Capricorn! Pluto’s dark influence is fading, and you’re stepping into the light. Take the next month to clear out what no longer serves you. The bearable lightness of being is just around the corner.

Aquarius and Aquarius Rising: Your power lies in your intellect and ideas, but what will you do with them? Mars is pushing you to fight for what’s important. Now is the time to stand up for what matters.

Pisces and Pisces Rising: This Full Moon lights up your skills and potential. Don’t be shy—make an inventory of your gifts, and consider how you can use them to make a difference.
