Dedicated to Lucija a.k.a Twiga

Today, at the exact moment of the New Moon in Aquarius, I stood at the cemetery, attending the funeral of a remarkable woman—someone I knew only briefly, yet whose presence left a lasting mark. As her physical body was placed in the ground, the New Moon in Aquarius rose above the cloudy sky, embracing her among the stars, where she will continue to shine.
Her name is Lucija, which means light. Her rising sign was Aquarius, the illuminator. Venus was strong and bright in her chart. She dedicated her life to teaching people how to create beauty and balance in their homes and everyday life. She shared colors and patterns and joy. Warmth and advice. And today Sun and Moon, Mercury and Pluto all embraced her into the constellation of freedom.
A few weeks ago, in a seemingly trivial search for the perfect pendant lights for my future kitchen, I found a needed advice on Lucija's blog, which led me to the store where I found exactly what I had envisioned. I didn’t know then that she was already in her final days, nor that her words would reach me in more ways than one. In her last New Year’s message to her close friends, she wrote: We must remember that everything is within us, and everything is one—advice and liberation.
This New Moon in Aquarius carries the same message—a reminder that the light we seek outside of ourselves already exists within. Aquarius is not just the sign of visionaries, but of those who bring light into the unknown, who dare to illuminate what is hidden, who trust in the unseen.
Pluto’s presence near this New Moon reminds us that this illumination does not come without depth. It asks us to break through illusions, to look beyond the surface, and to recognize transformation as a natural force. This is the kind of freedom that does not come from detachment, but from profound awareness. Freedom that transcends everything material and shows us what lies beyond.
But what of the body? What of the heart?
While the mind may long for expansion, Mars retrograde in Cancer reminds us of our roots, and our emotional landscapes—the places where we still seek safety and security. Here is what Mars now asks us: What is home to you? Where does your light feel most nourished?
This New Moon is not just a portal into the future—it is a bridge between what was and what can be.

For those of you in Serbia or following the events unfolding here, you’ll recognize the immense light that the student protests have brought to January. Their actions have illuminated the collective power of voices rising together to imagine a different world - one that celebrates justice and shared responsibilities.
The metaphor of the bridge takes on new meaning this week, as Saturday’s protest calls for the blocking of three bridges in Novi Sad—a symbolic act of both resistance and connection. Students and citizens will begin their walk from Belgrade and other cities tomorrow, Thursday morning. Bridges, after all, are not just structures; they represent transitions, unity, and the passage from one reality to another. This planned journey, now unfolding, represents a moment when light meets movement—where change is not just imagined but embodied.

Let this New Moon be a moment of illumination: ask yourself these questions.
💡 What outdated patterns are you ready to release into the shadows?
💡 What new vision do you want to bring to light?
💡 How can you honor your emotions while stepping boldly into the future?
Aquarius New Moon Ritual: Turning on the Light
You’ll need: A candle, a mirror, and a journal.

Light a candle as a symbol of clarity and awareness. As you do, say aloud:
"I welcome light, I welcome truth, I welcome transformation."
Sit with your reflection. Look into the mirror and ask yourself:
What do I need to see that I have been avoiding?
Let whatever thoughts or feelings arise without judgment.
Write in your journal about what comes up. Ask yourself:
What do I want to invite in?
Close with an intention. Blow out the candle, knowing that the light you seek is already within you. As Lucija said: Everything is within us, and everything is one—advice and liberation.
This is your moment to turn the lights on—within and beyond.
May this New Moon bring you clarity, and the courage to shine.
With starlight,
Alex
